Vila Corona, Llabustes ‘Tu Rai’ – From high in the foothills of the Pyrenees, a traditional blend of red varietals delivers a well balanced wine with an aromatic nose. Fresh on the palate, with hints of red fruit, cocoa and liquorice, dry tannins and a long finish. Try with lamb or pork.
Cantine Paolo Leo, Millefiori, Rosso del Veneto – Delicious full fruits of raspberries, red cherries and a slight hint of dried fruits (appasimmento is the process of natural partial dehydration of grapes to produce a greater concentration of colours, aromas and flavours in the wine). Subtle spice, rich with a soft edge and a long lingering finish.
Cantine Paolo Leo, Negroamaro IGP – Intensely fruity wine from Puglia with currant and raspberry jam aromas. Soft and fruity with a soft palate on the finish.
Bodegas Picos, Gregoriano Garnacha Blanca – This delicate and crisp white wine has really impressed me due to its lovely floral/citrus aromas and a honey-like aftertaste that lingers on the mouth. A beautiful wine for a hot day.
Solera, Orange Natural Wine – This is something a bit different that I think people will enjoy. A blend of multiple grapes ( Chardonnay, Feteasca Alba, Sauvignon Blanc, Tamioasa Romaneasca) that are pressed, leaving the skins and seeds in contact with the wines to give an orange colour. This is a crisp white from Romania with more body. Perfumed with notes of candied apricots, stone fruits and a herbal touch.
Michel Léon, Gewurtztraminer – An intense and aromatic Gewürztraminer. White flowers, peaches, lychee and rose water dominate the nose, off-dry with plenty balancing acidity.
