Cosy nights in with unusual Grape varieties
White port is a favourite that I turn to every time. This one is full of rich flavour. Keep it in the fridge and enjoy a glass with some orange biscotti or as an aperitif.
The Greco di Tufo (I love the sound of that grape name!) Has a little sort of floral edge to it and isn’t too acidic. Drinks with friends and some snacks.
The Furmint is bigger and good with food: creamy dishes – think baked ham with parsley sauce and creamy mash.
I used to hate the Pinotage grape. Dylan would joke that I could spot even a tiny percentage of it in a wine. That’s all changed now – it makes some fantastic wines like this one. And I love the quirky bottle!
The Zweigelt I can just imagine sitting in front of a nice fire and cheese. The alcohol isn’t high but it’s still full of lovely fruity full bodied flavours.
From Uruguay you have the Marselan grape – have you heard of that? No me neither. A touch of spice in this lovely soft fruity wine is ideal for one of my favourite winter dishes Coq au Vin.
